Freewheelers explores an uncanny historical collision in New Haven’s history: in 1866, the bicycle was patented in New Haven. That same year, the country's first corset factory opened just blocks away from the town’s famed Green. These parallel events set into motion a new chapter in women's ongoing fight for equality. The show is a spectacle of song, movement, and storytelling that explores the convergence of the corset and the bicycle—and the exhilarating effect it had on society.

Broken Umbrella and Olympia Properties have breathed new life into the former Horowitz Brothers department store, transforming it into an exciting theatrical space.
